Ketchums Gieco Wins 2014 PKC NY State Championship!

Ketchums Gieco, owned by Ketchum's Kennel and handled by John Weidman Sr. won the 2014 PKC New York State Championship Friday night in Branchport, New York.

From New York State President Dave Nicholas, It was a calm nice night, perfect for running coon. 39 dogs showed up to compete in this great NY State event this year. Coon moved well for the first round and continued to venture out where there was a lot of action with split trees and a multitude of tracks for the second round of the NY CHAMPIONSHIP finals. This made for an exciting night. A number of club members stayed at the club and listened to the Play by Play action of the event as it progressed. This was pretty exciting to listen to, while sipping coffee and staying warm.

The new NYS Champion of the 2013 Year is Ketchum’s Geico, owned by Ketchum’s Kennel and handled by John Weidman Sr. Final score was 325+ on the final round. A huge congratulations for a job well done. In the first round John advanced with +275, where he didn’t have the highest score of the night on the first round, which was +900 going to Pearl of WTF Kennels, but Geico and Mr. John had the heart and endurance to just keep pushing through for the strategic wins that has made his outstanding hound shine at the end of the night. The hounds Ketchum Kennels bring to the arena as well as their excellent knowledge of the rules and handling capabilities have given Ketchum Kennels and their family many successful years of PKC Competition hunting.
