January is the time most coon hunters head south to attend the big southern hunts. The latest news for coo n hunters looking for a respite from Winter’s inevitable chilly blast is that the 2002 PKC Sunshine Jamboree will be held January 24,25, and 26 in Georgetown, Georgia, just across the river from Eufaula, Alabama. The hunt location will be the Old Gymnasium on Highway 82 in Georgetown. The location is 65 miles from Albany, Georgia for those of you who will also be attending the events there. Here are some of the features of the Sunshine Jamboree:

 Three nights of PKC hunting with $1000 added each night on the Open Events and $500 Added on the Pup Derbies – a total of $4500 in added purses! Entry deadlines will be 6:00 PM each night and the entry fee for all hunts is $60. Guides will be paid $40 per cast.

 A PKC/PURINA National Bench Show Tour Event on Friday, January 25th at 12 noon featuring a $1000 added purse! The entry fee is $25.

 All motels are in Eufaula, Alabama. The Ramada/Eufaula is the official host motel featuring 95 rooms and special rates for coon hunters. The phone number for the Ramada/Eufaula is 334-687-2021. Dogs are welcome. For other motel information, contact the Eufaula Visitor’s Bureau at 800-524-7527.
