Sunshine Jamboree Opens In New Location
Sunshine Jamboree Opens in New LocationGeorgetown, GA – The Sunshine Jamboree opened to the tune o f 177 entries on a warm Thursday evening in southwest Georgia. The weatherman threw every pitch in his book at the 146 Open and 31 Pup Derby entries, leading with brisk winds that made handling a challenge and closing with intermitent downpours of rain. The coons, in the potpourri of weather changes, pretty much stayed home instead heading for the nearest feed patch or watering hole. The handlers responded well to the adversity, bringing but two or three questions to the panels assembled at headquarters and when all was said and done, it had to be considered a good opener for the new location.
All scores for the hunters making the final four were in the plus category with 450 being high in the Open Event and 375 making the cut. The pups didn’t fair quite so well with the high being 150 plus and a 25 plus score getting in. Cast winners in the Open took home $86 and change while the Pup cast winners pocketed $50 for the “CW.”
