Georgetown, GA – The move to Georgetown, some two hours north of the Sunshine Jamboree’s former location i n Thomasville, Georgia seems to suit the nation’s coon hunters. The 2002 edition of this wintertime classic Deep South coon hunt has drawn 40 more hounds after two nights of hunting than did the 2001event. The two-night entry total stands at 365 hounds with one night of hunting to go.

The hounds picked up the pace a bit with David Knox and his consistent-winning Walker female, Foxy Brown scoring the night’s high of 525 plus. Next in the scoring order was 2000 PKC National Champion Pic Pac Pickles, owned by publisher Terry Walker and Mark Cross and now handed by JOY Super Handler winner Ricky Hawkins with 475. Frank and Chad Granbury put in their second Final Four appearance of the hunt with a 400 plus effort by their Thunder dog. Jeff Mayes with Bill rounded out the final cast with 375 plus. The four handlers elected to take the $290 split and to divide the $1000 Added Purse before heading for the motels in anticipation of night number three.

The pups again found it a bit tougher to bring in a big score. The top three pups making the Final Four had 175 plus each. Here are the results of the Friday night hunt:
