North Vernon, IN – Opening night at the PKC Labor Day Classic saw 228 hounds vying for a coveted Final Fou r spot in either the Open Event or Pup Derby. Questions were few, mostly procedural in nature and most of the casts scored plus points. The Open Event had 31 casts with only three failing to finish with plus points. There was but one cast won in the Open Event with minus points. Likewise in the Pup Derby, there were 26 casts with only two of them being won without plus. Only one cast was won with minus. This is a tribute to the guides and to the great hunting in this part of Indiana.

The high score in the Open Event was 875 posted by Fiddler, Jr., owned by Bane or Bowling and handled by Eric Dunn. The high-scoring pup was Burt, owned and handled by Cecil Stanley with 700 plus.
