PKC Labor Day Classic Champion crowned!

North Vernon, IN - The PKC history books have a ne w entry tonight. The PKC Labor Day Classic, a hunt that grew from obscurity to center stage overnight has crowned an overall champion.

The Clifty Creek Coon Hunters Club envisioned a hunt where hunters could choose the type of hunt they wanted in the Midwest on Labor Day weekend and choose they have! This year the PKC Labor Day Classic featured warm-up hunts, thanks to promoter Jerry Moll and the clubs at St. Leon, Cross Plains, and Shelbyville and the hard work of a lot of support people. In all the 5 nights of PKC hunting drew 1127 hounds.

Taking the vision a step further, Bobby Wilson of the Clifty Creek club wanted an overall champion. He secured a nice 4-foot trophy and put up $200 in added purse to be awarded to the high-scoring dog for three nights at the "Classic."

Three hounds managed to win their casts all three nights. Dale Chapman with Gritt, a Walker male put together a total score of 325 plus off cast wins of 250 plus, 0, and 75 plus. Millcreek Molly owned by Allen Wilson and handled by Chris Allen had a total score of 325 also with cast wins of 100 plus, 0, and 225 plus.

Taking top honors was Dixie, a Walker female owned by Greg Benham. The Walker proved to be Miss Consistency, posting cast wins of 275 plus, 200 plus, and 275 plus respectively, running her total score to 750 plus.

The Lee dog of James Atwell's and the Zeb Again dog of Barry Kiddy's were the hounds to beat going into the last night of competition. Lee had two cast wins of 525 plus and 650 plus entering Saturday night. Zeb Again had posted wins of 375 plus and 450 plus on the first two nights.
