Lula, MS - The 2007 PKC-Purina Seniors’ Showdown begins tomorrow night at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lula , MS. The event will feature four (4) qualifiers each month from November 2005 through October 2006. Through many hours of lost sleep and traveling many, many miles, the 48 dogs fortunate enough to earn a ticket to the coveted “Seniors’ Showdown” have amassed total lifetime earnings of $842, 071.68 as of this date. With a new 4 X 4 Chevrolet truck to be driven home by the “last one standing”, dogs will be drawn into twelve (12) four (4) dog casts early on Friday night. Those cast winners will recast late on Friday in four (4) three (3) dog casts. Those cast winners will compete on Saturday night, with the winner receiving the keys to a brand new 4 X 4 Chevrolet truck!

Mississippi and Virginia lead the way in the number of qualifiers with six each. Following closely are Kentucky, Ohio, and South Carolina with five qualifiers each. Indian and Tennessee each have four qualifiers, and Georgia has three. North Carolina and Oklahoma each have tow qualified dogs, with Arkansas, Connecticut, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, and Texas rounding out the field with one each.

The oldest qualified dog is Edmiston’s Wild Spark, owned and handled by Eddie Edmiston of Fayetteville, Tennessee, with a birthday of 02/22/1997, making her almost ten years old, and getting better!

The youngest qualified dog is Triple Creek Rat, owned by Rick Vogel of Hillsboro, Illinois or Charles “Sluggo” Payton of Radcliff, Kentucky. Rat’s birthday is 06/18/2003, making him about 3½ years old. Rat will be handled by Sluggo.

The weather forecast for Lula on Friday predicts a high temperature of 39º degrees with a low temperature of 27º degrees, with a 10% chance of rain under cloudy skies. Saturday’s forecast is for a 39º degree high and a 24º degree low, under partly cloudy skies with a repeated 10% chance of precipitation.
