2008 Senior Showdown

Evansville, IN – The 48 member field for the 2008 Seniors’ Showdown has been filled. The event is schedul ed for February 1 & 2, 2008 at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lula, Mississippi. Cosponsored by PKC, Purina, and the Isle of Capri Casino, the winner drives home in a brand new pickup truck! The event is a single elimination event, conducted under Pro Rules with non-hunting judges, with early round cast winners advancing to the late round on Friday night. The four late round cast winners compete on Saturday night for the keys to the brand spanking new pickup truck!

Our field this year consist of 30 Males and 18 Females. Those 48 dogs represent three English Males, one English Female, one Plott female, 27 Walker Males and 16 Walker Females.

Georgia and Tennessee lead the field with five qualifiers each, followed closely by Alabama and Oklahoma with four qualifiers each. The states of Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia each qualified three dogs to participate in the Seniors’ Showdown, with Indiana, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas qualifying two dogs each. The field is completed with one qualifier each from Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Southern Pines Mo, a Walker Male, is the oldest of the qualifiers at the tender age of nine, followed closely by Brushy Creek Coma’s Spud at 107 months old! Our youngest qualifier is T/T’s Major High Tone at the age of three years and four months old, followed closely by Jones Creek Hard Buck at the age of three years and six months old. An additional seven 2004 models join High Tone and Buck in the three-year old range. The remainder of the field consists of three 2000 models, nine 2001 models, eleven 2002 models, and fourteen 2003 models.

All qualifiers will receive a cap and jacket commemorating their qualification for the event, compliments of Purina and PKC, and are asked to please wear the jacket for picture taking!

Pictures of all qualifiers will be taken between 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM at a site designated by the casino, and all participants are being asked to please be on time.

Immediately following pictures, all participants and their guests will be treated to a brunch consisting of various finger foods, compliments of the Isle of Capri Casino.

DRAW-OUT will follow the brunch, and we hope to bring you the complete matchups soon after draw-out is completed!

Cast winners from the early round on Friday night will recast late to determine the Final Four spots for Saturday night and a one in four chance at a new pickup truck!!!!!
