2010 Senior Showdown This Week!

Evansville, IN – The sixty-four (64) member field for the 2010 PKC Seniors’ Showdown has been confirmed. The event is scheduled for February 5 & 6, 2010 at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lula, Mississippi. Co-sponsored by PKC, Purina, and the Isle of Capri Casino, the winner drives home in a brand new pickup truck! The field increases to sixty-four (64) dogs this year for the first time reflecting the addition of the $10, $15, and $25 event qualifiers. The event is a single elimination event, conducted under Pro Rules with non-hunting judges, with early round cast winners advancing to the late round on Friday night. The four late round cast winners compete on Saturday night for the keys to the brand spanking new pickup truck!

Our field this year consist of 36 Males and 28 Females. Those 64 dogs represent one Black & Tan male and two females; one Bluetick male and one female; two English males and five females; and 31 Walker males and 21 females.

Kentucky and Tennessee lead the field with nine qualifiers each, followed by Arkansas with five qualifiers and Oklahoma with 4 qualifiers; Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia each have three qualifiers. Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, and West Virginia complete the field with one qualifier each.

Stylish Stubby, a Walker Male, owned by Clyde Osborn of Prattville, Michigan, is the oldest of the qualifiers at the tender age of ten years and 4 months old, followed by Big Creek Mandy, owned by James Missildine of Highland Home, Alabama, at nine years 11 months of age. Our youngest qualifier is Boogar Hollow Mojo, owned by J C Ellis and Scott Engle of Hillsboro, Ohio at the age of three years and four months old, followed closely by Hardwood Heidi, owned by Buddy DeLettre, Tony Secoy, and Paul Sheffiled of Upper Sandusky, Ohio that is twenty-five days older than Mojo, at the age of three years and five months old. An additional ten 2006 models join Mojo and Heidi in the three-year old range. The remainder of the field consists of three 2001 models, five 2002 models, ten 2003 models, and sixteen each 2004 and 2005 models.

Some casts may be required to travel further than normal due to the unusually high level of the Mississippi River at Lula. The river is expected to crest around 40 feet on Tuesday, February 2nd. These conditions leave much of the prime river bottom hunting flooded. We appreciate your understanding of the necessity to travel further than normal, but the situation we are in leaves no other choice.

All qualifiers will receive a cap and jacket commemorating their qualification for the event, compliments of Purina and PKC, and are asked to please wear the jacket for picture taking!

Pictures of all qualifiers will be taken between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM at a site designated by the casino, and all participants are being asked to please be on time.

Beginning at 5:00 PM, all participants and their guests will be treated to a brunch consisting of various finger foods, compliments of the Isle of Capri Casino.

DRAW-OUT will follow the brunch, and we hope to bring you the complete matchups soon after draw-out is completed!

Cast winners from the early round on Friday night will recast late to determine the Final Four spots for Saturday night and a one in four chance at a new pickup truck!!!!!
