PKC Super Stake Sire Directory Ever try to hold back a freight train with a piece of baler twine? That's the feeling we have these days as we observe at every turn, the amazing growth of PKC. Records are falling like targets in a county fair shooting gallery as hunters, many of them for the first time, discover the excitement and the benefits of PKC hunting. At the core of the PKC phenomenon is its breeder's program, now recognized far and wide as "Super Stakes." Super Stakes is the official PKC breeder's program, initiated by PKC in 1989. Fundamentally, the owners of sires join the PKC Breeder's Association. They then enroll their stud dogs as PKC Super Stakes Sires each year. The offspring of those sires are eligible to participate in annual Super Stakes Championships as one and two-year olds. Breeders and sire owners compete for annual Sire of the Year and Breeder of the Year awards and the awards are phenomenal! In its first year of existence in 1989, twenty-three sires were enrolled and the Super Stakes Championship purse for the eleven participating offspring was approximately $5000. Currently, sire enrollment has risen to more than 500 sires with the top winning one and two-year olds earning $17,500 and $12,000 respectively. The PKC Super Stakes program has grown to the degree that the championships for each age division are now held twice each year!
