Due to a job promotion that will require a greater number of hours than his previous position and the
time needed to devote to his family and to support his daughters, I must regretfully announce to the
PKC Beagle World the resignation of PKC Beagle Division Director, Tony Kildow. Tony has been a
tremendous asset to the PKC Beagle Division and will be sorely missed by all who knew and respected
him. I’ve personally enjoyed working with Tony, and wish him the very best in his future endeavors.
The entire PKC family would like to offer our “best wishes” to Tony as he pursues this newest chapter of
his life, and thank him for his untiring service to the program. Tony has pledged his support and has
agreed to help to continue to promote the PKC Beagle Division to the best of his ability. For this offer,
we are extremely grateful.

I’m very excited to also announce that Assistant Director, Lance Spivey, has agreed to accept the
position vacated by Tony as the Director of the PKC Beagle Division. Lance’s knowledge of the sport of
competitive “beagling” and his success in PKC and other registries over the years have earned him the
respect needed to assure the continued success of the PKC Beagle Division. I look forward to working
ever closer with Lance than I have in the past, and feel that he will take the program to another level. If
Lance can help you in any way, please feel free to contact him @ 615-388-0319 or email him at

Below is an introduction to Lance:

My name is Lance Spivey and I live in Lafayette, TN. Hunting has always been a way of life for
my family. Both of my Grandfathers coon hunted and my Dad too. We have always had hounds in our
lives but I took up with the Beagles. I have been competing in the beagle world for 31 years. I started
hunting with my Dad, R.J. Spivey, when I was five years old. This was before there were any PKC or NKC
hunts to go to. There was a bunch of country folks that would meet down at Barren River Beagle Club in
Franklin, KY. I can still remember how excited I would get waiting to go to the hunts, I couldn’t sleep for
an entire week before the hunt. I would wear my dog out trying to get ready for the bench show. Back
then there would be 2030 dogs in each class and probably 150 to 250 people just watching. It was really
something to get in the Top 5 at one of these shows. When we would get ready to hunt, there would be

150 – 200 dogs in the trial. I still have the first trophy that my dog ever won and it’s still on my Dads gun
cabinet today. Sadie won 2nd at a bench show and that was like winning the world hunt for a 6 year old
boy.

I’ve been very blessed in my life when it comes to Beagles. I’ve owned and handled 8 World
Champions. They were very good hounds but there was an element of luck there too. I’ve had 6 hounds
put into the NKC Hall of Fame and was recently voted into the NKC Hall of Fame as a handler myself. I
also served on the NKC Board of Directors for ten years before accepting the PKC Assistant Director Job.

In everything you do you have to have good people around you to make you successful. I would
like to thank my Mom and Dad for always letting me hunt and supporting me throughout life. I would
also like to thank my good friend Tony Kildow for making PKC so successful. He has made great
improvements to the sport. I would also like to thank the PKC team (Connie Young, J.R. Dunlap and Toby
Carithers) for the hard work they do day in and day out. Last but not Least, I would like to thank my wife,
Julie and my kids Mason, 14 & Morgan, 10. Without them it wouldn’t mean anything. They are very
understanding and supportive with everything I do. You will see them at the hunts from time to time
when time permits them to make the trip.

I look forward to being Director of the PKC Beagle Program. I have a lot of ideas and plans for
PKC. I want to try to get the youth program up and running where we can one day have a Youth World
Hunt. We are going to beat the bushes to get more sponsors and get more added purse money for the
hunts. We are going to work with the clubs to see what we can do for them to get our club hunt numbers
up. I’m open to new ideas to take PKC to the forefront of the beagling world. I want to say thank you to
the members of PKC for helping us make this successful. If you see me at a hunt please come up to me
and introduce yourself and let me know your ideas. Together we can make “PKC THE PLACE TO BE!”

Thanks!
