Jason Olinger – Owner/Handler

The Don McVay Memorial hunt kicked off Saturday with 102 entries in the first qualifying round! The second round saw 57 entries for a hunt total of 159. With a two day total of over 250 entries in the weekend's events! Coshocton County Beagle Club hosted a huge annual raffle in the afternoon with prizes totaling over $22,000! The atmosphere was fantastic and there were a ton of happy campers that left with a nice prize! The 11 dog semifinal got out first thing Sunday morning and turned right back out with the final 3.

Despite high temperatures, the final cast was phenomenal and Olinger's Polly Wanna Wabbit owned by Jason Olinger of West LaFayette, OH claimed the title of the Don McVay Sr Memorial Hunt Champion with 450+ earning her owner $1592! Dagoustine's Big Brutus Bawls owned by Owen Dagoustine of West Virginia came in second with 350+ earning $896.  Amanda Sias and Dash for Cash of Circleville, OH finished third and took home $558.  Nitro, owned by Chuck Prather of Kent, OH took 4th place and $338.

There was also a Total Dog Competition that combines efforts from placements from the field and show and rewards the "Total Dog".  This promotes a hunting beagle that has great confirmation!  Polly won the Total Dog Competition and Cash won the Total Dog-Opposite Sex!  They both received excellent prizes packages for winning this aspect of the competition.

A special thanks goes to Brandon Dunlap, Lance Spivey and JR Dunlap for judging the finals. Thanks to Brandon for judging every round and for judging in every event of the weekend.  All judges were fantastic and always willing step up to help move the hunt along.  We would also like to appreciate and thank THE RABBIT HUNTER for donating $1,000 to the purse of this hunt.  This magazine has always supported our program and we can’t thank them enough!

34 dogs participated in the show.  Moore’s All Star in the Park owned by Gregg Moore of Union, KY won the Best Female and Best of Show and brought home $244!  Buck Ridge Speaker of the House, owned by Gary Corn and shown by Elizabeth Corn of Greensburg, IN won Best Female and took home $158.  Little Bit Moore of Parker, owned by Jackie Carpenter of Gambier, OH won Best Puppy and earned $104.  A special thanks goes to Bill Ashcraft of Martinsburg, WV, Don McVay Jr. of West Lafeyette, OH and Alaine Hartuniewicz from Rafine, VA for doing an excellent job judging the show!

A very special thanks goes to the job that the Coshocton County Beagle Club did hosting this magnificent event!  The entire McVay family was in attendance and helping out from start to finish.  Dave McVay and his entire family were out in full force making things happen.  His mother Vada, brothers Don Jr, Danny, Dick and Denny, Aunt Dorothy Manning and her son Toby, Dick’s daughter  Deidre, and Dave’s Wife Shelly.  Family Friend Stephanie Murray was also a huge help. They are one of the hardest working families I have ever seen!  I can’t explain how much preparation went into making this event a huge success.   Schumaker Farms was an outstanding host.  The owners, Jim and Wendy Schumaker  were helping and very hospitable all weekend long.  They had a full buffet that was phenomenal! I can’t thank the hunters enough for coming out in full force and supporting this event.  We had out-of-state hunters from Arkansas, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.  It was a truly family friendly atmosphere all weekend long.  Coshocton County Beagle Club and PKC would like to thank the following sponsors for their support: Tri-Tronics, Seneca Kennels, Plum Creek Kennels, Eisenhut Dog Supply, Keeping U In Stitches and Black Gold to name a few. No matter how large or small the contribution events like this would not be possible without your sponsorship.

There were 253 entries over the course of the two days, and $6,861 was paid out to the hunters over the entire weekend and a ton of new members left with a great outlook on what PKC has to offer.  PKC Beagling will always strive to keep that family atmosphere and ensure good sportsmanship is displayed.  PKC was honored to sanction this huge event!

CONGRATULATIONS to all the weekend's winners and a SPECIAL THANK - YOU to all who made this event possible.
