2019 PKC Senior Dog Showdown This Friday!

The sixty-four (64) member field for the 2019 PKC Senior Showdown has been confirmed.  The event is scheduled for February 1 & 2 at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lula, Mississippi.  Co-sponsored by PKC, Purina, and the Isle of Capri Casino, the winner drives home in a brand new pickup truck from Cullman Auto Mall of Cullman, Alabama!  The event is a single elimination event, conducted under Pro Rules with non-hunting judges, with early round cast winners advancing to the late round on Friday night.  The four late round cast winners compete on Saturday night for the keys to the brand spanking new pickup truck!  In addition to the pickup truck that will be awarded on Saturday night, those members of the final cast not winning the truck will receive $2,000 to the reserve champion, $1,000 to third place, and $500 to fourth place.

Our field this year consists of thirty-five (35) males and twenty-nine (29) females.  Those sixty-four (64) dogs represent three (3) Black & Tan males and one (1) female; two (2) Bluetick males and one (1) female; one (1) Cross Bred male and one (1) female; three (3) English males and two (2) females; one (1) Redbone female, and twenty-six (26) Treeing Walker males and twenty-three (23) females. Indiana leads the field with nine (9) qualifiers, followed closely by Tennessee with eight (8) qualifiers.  Kentucky and North Carolina have six (6) qualifiers each, followed by Georgia and South Carolina with five (5) qualifiers each.   Arkansas and Missouri each have four (4) qualifiers; Alabama qualified three (3).  Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia have two (2) qualifiers each.  Kansas, Mississippi, Ohio, and Texas complete the field with one (1) qualifier each.

GCH Wipeout Andy, a Walker Male with a birth date of 11/13/2009, owned by Crosby/Doolin of Sheridan, Arkansas is the elder statesman of the qualifiers at the tender age of nine years and 5 months old, followed by Big Lake Honey Bun, a Walker Female, born 05/27/2010.  Honey Bun is owned by Cochran/ Eaddy of Johnson, South Carolina.  Our youngest qualifiers are Combo, owned by Doug Blackwell, Jr of Owenton, Kentucky, With a birth date of 08/18/2014.  Combo is one (1) day younger than Oakwood’s Wild Crow, owned by Briggs/Cannon/Schellhorn of Morley, Michigan with a birth date of 08/17/2014.  Completing the field are an additional two (2) born in 2010; eight (8) born in 2011; thirteen (13) born in 2012; twenty-six (26) born in 2013, and thirteen (13) born in 2014.

ALL COMPETITORS, JUDGES, GUIDES, GUESTS, SUPPORT PERSONNEL, AND PKC STAFF MEMBERS. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, ARE ANY VEHICLES TO BE PARKED AT THE MAIN ENTRANE TO THE CASINO FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME; NO EXCEPTIONS! THE ISLE OF CAPRI CASINO STAFF HAS MADE THIS A MANDATORY REQUIREMENT, AND WE WILL BE REQUIRED TO ABIDE BY THEIR POLICY!

All qualifiers will receive a cap and jacket commemorating their qualification for the event, compliments of Purina and PKC, and are asked to please wear the jacket for picture taking!  Drawing for first round casts, and pictures of all qualifiers will be taken between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM Central Time at a site designated by the casino, and all participants are being asked to please be early or on time.  Any qualifier not on site between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM Central Time on Friday will be omitted from the 2019 Senior Showdown coverage in PROHOUND.

Beginning at 4:00 PM, all participants and their guests will be treated to a brunch consisting of various finger foods, compliments of the Isle of Capri Casino.  Calling of casts will follow the brunch, and we hope to bring you the complete matchups soon after draw-out is completed!

Cast winners from the early round on Friday night will recast late to determine the Final Four spots for Saturday night and a one in four chance at a new pickup truck and the other cash awards!!!!!

Each member of the final cast will be interviewed on Saturday afternoon by Amy Thomas for articles to be published in PROHOUND. Each late round cast winner on Friday night will be assigned an interview time for Saturday afternoon after returning to the casino from late round casts.
