The 2014 PKC Pup Shoot-Out Is Here!

Evansville, IN–
Monday February 24, 2014

The sixty-four (64) member field for the 2014 PKC Pup Shoot-Out has been confirmed. The event is scheduled for Friday February 28 & Saturday March 01, 2014 at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lula, Mississippi. Co-sponsored by PKC, Purina, SportDog, and the Isle of Capri Casino, the winner drives home in a brand new pickup truck! The event is single elimination, conducted under Pro Rules with non-hunting judges.  The early round cast winners advance to the late round on Friday night. The four late round cast winners from Friday compete on Saturday night for the keys to the brand spanking new pickup truck! In addition to the pickup truck, cash prizes will be awarded to the remaining final three placements; $2,000 to the runner-up, $1,000 to third place, and $500 to fourth place.  Each handler will be playing the 1 in 64 odds at the casino of taking home the new truck!

Our field this year consists of 41 males and 23 females. Those 64 dogs represent one Black & Tan male; two English females, one Plott male along with 39 Walker males and 21 Walker females.

Alabama and Tennessee lead the field with eight (8) qualifiers each, followed by Missouri with five (5) qualifiers. Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio and Texas each have four (4) qualifiers; North Carolina and Pennsylvania have three (3) qualifiers each; Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia follow closely with two (2) qualifiers each; Florida, Illinois and Michigan round out the field with one (1) qualifier each.

All qualifiers will receive a cap and jacket commemorating their qualification for the event, compliments of Purina, SportDog, and PKC, and are asked to please wear the jacket for picture taking!

Drawing for first round casts, and pictures of all qualifiers will be taken between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM at a site designated by the casino.  All participants are being asked to please be on time or early for picture taking. Any qualifier not on site between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM on Friday, February 28 will be omitted from the 2014 Pup Shoot-Our coverage in PROHOUND.

Beginning at 4:30 PM, all participants and their guests will be treated to a light luncheon consisting of various finger foods, compliments of the Isle of Capri Casino. Announcements and calling of casts will immediately follow, and we hope to provide all interested parties the complete matchups soon after the casts are headed to the woods!

Each member of the final cast will be interviewed on Saturday afternoon by Amy Thomas for articles to be published in PROHOUND. Each late round cast winner on Friday night will be assigned an interview time for Saturday afternoon after returning to the casino from late round casts.
