The 2001 PKC World Champion coonhound is PCH WCH Silver Dollar Stone, owned by Darrel Newton of Benton, KY and handled by Ronnie Smith of Harrisburg, IL. Stone earned his title by defeating an entry of 1500 coonhounds in the six-day PKC World Coonhound Championship held Oct. 22-27 in Aurora, KY.

Silver Dollar Stone has had a very successful year. He was the 2001 PKC Male Leader, narrowly losing (by five dollars and change) the overall Open money leader's race to Allen Wilson's Molly female in a race that set a new Open money yearly total in excess of five thousand dollars.

Ronnie Smith, one of the all-time money winning handlers in PKC, added the World Championship title to an already impressive resume which includes the PKC National Championship title earned in 2000 with Pic Pac Pickles, a Walker female owned by Mark Cross and Terry Walker.

Silver Dollar Stone earned $30,000 for his successful bid for the World Championship title. The beautiful tri-colored hound was sired by Rock River Stone who in turn was sired by Rock River Sackett, Jr. Sackett, Jr. was inducted into the PKC Walker Hall of Fame in a special ceremony at Aurora this year. Stone's dam, Barner's Kate was sired by Stylish Lipper who in turn was sired by House's Lipper.

Silver Dollar Stone's winning score was 275 plus in a very competitive final cast consisting of Kevin Turner with Stylish Oz, Wes Wooten with Queen Ann, and Scott Engle with Bellar Ann, all Walkers. Oz was second, Bellar Ann third, and Queen Ann fourth in the order of finish, earning $15,000, $10,000, and $7,500 respectively.
