Louisville, MS - Night number two of the PKC Winter Classis saw an increase of 52 hounds over the Thursday night entry. One hundred and seventy Open entries and 79 puppies comprise tonight's field in the prestigious "Night Hunt in the Southern Tradition" staged annually in Louisville. Hunt promoters had hoped to exceed the 2001 entry of 301 hounds but their disappointment is no doubt overshadowed by the exuberant crowd of 249 entries at draw out, each with an eye on a piece of that $2000 Added pie. Actually, the Open Event and the Pup Derby each are sporting $1000 in added money.

Winning a cast at a major event can pay big dividends. Tonight's Open Event will pay cast winners $90.13 while the Pup Derby cast-win pays $63.28. But it's the Final Four, the after-midnight-at-the-pay- window thing that is the prize each of the 249 entries is gunning for. First place in either event pays $638 plus the added to the hound that hunts it off and wins it all. We'll see who had the confidence, the stamina, and the dog power when we post the Friday night winners early tomorrow morning.

The hounds at Louisville are running under clear skies with a projected low of 29 degrees overnight. Tomorrow will be sunny with highs in near 60 and tomorrow night, the weatherman is forecasting 31 as the low under clear skies with calm wins. There's still time for YOU to make the 6:00 PM deadline in Louisville tomorrow night where the big added purses await you and your winning hound.

"All the winners. All the time."
