Deep South Pac Rat wins World Hunt


Aurora, KY - The 2002 PKC World Champion is a two-year old son of Rat Attack, owned by Roger Dale Carnegie of Franklinton, LA and handled by Craig Deschamp of Pass Christian, MS. Deep South Pac Rat earned the title in a toughly fought contest that went down to the wire on a crisp, picture-perfect western Kentucky night.

Pac Rat narrowly edged another Rat Attack pup, John T. Treadwell's Heart Attack, a one-year old handed in the final by George Major, Jr. Both Treadwell and Major hail from the State of Oklahoma.

Pac Rat hit pay dirt early on a tree call that came so quickly that it had handler Deschamp asking the famous Steve Erkle line, "Did I do that?" In a post hunt interview Deschamp said, "when he gave that triple chop I had him treed before I realized it." The decision proved to be wise, giving the Louisiana Walker a lead that he never relinquished throughout the two-hour contest. That's not to say it wasn't close because in the waning minutes of the hunt, dogs were split treed with the title depending solely on what was seen in each tree.
