Iola, TX – Friday night at the Lone Star 5000 Plus saw 218 hounds leaving headquarters in search of Texas raccoons that translate to PKC gold. With a guaranteed $100 cast win, the event is unique in all the sport in that regard.
While the Pup Derby finalists elected to hunt the final, the Open Event final four had difficulty deciding to hunt or split the purse. With $2000 in added purse to tantalize the finalists, they first decided to hunt for it. After one hour of competition, the split apparently looked more attractive and split they did. Here’s the way they finished Friday night:

Congratulations to the winners on Friday night. As this is being posted, I am awaiting the news of the Saturday night winners. With 186 hounds hunting Saturday night, the 2004 PKC Lone Star 5000 Plus finished with 69 more entries for the three nights than the event drew in 2003. The Lone Star association is to be congratulated on an extremely successful PKC event. Watch this spot for the Saturday night winners.
