Crook got her start in the hunts like a lot of other promising young hounds with the Rev. Gene Wolfenbarger in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. I think the kennel got full and Gene got to talking trade with Tim Cramer, who is always got a new dog on his mind. Crook went to South Carolina with Tim, but did not stay a long time because Tim also had another winner of the same age who had just placed in the Breeders division of the Breeder’s Stakes and sold her to Benny.
Benny kept her at home for just a little while and passed her along to Don Dunlap because he had a Homer hound named Leroy that also belonged to the same age group. Don spent the year working her and did not place her in many hunts and now has her ready for the big purse of the Super Stakes.
Crook is a very independent dog that is very accurate, usually scoring plus on most of her trees. We truly expect to be smiling when she comes in off this final cast, but would like to take this opportunity to wish the other hounds and handlers the best of luck.
