Parsons, TN – These are exciting times for PKC and this heart warming community known as Parsons, Tennesse e. The community’s outdoor recreation is second to none, resulting in Parsons being named “The Gateway to the Tennessee River”. This weekend it is host to the first annual Carl Perkins Classic. Proceeds from three nights of hunting, along with the world’s largest bench show pay-out, to lavish prizes, food, and entertainment, will go to the Carl Perkins Child Abuse Center. Carl Perkins was the famous creature of the first rock and roll song “Blue Suede Shoes” and a legend here in this community. You don’t want to miss this event.

Open ceremonies were held Wednesday evening, with a banquet honoring past PKC World Champions, committee members, and community legends. The evening highlights involved stories from friends and band members of the late Carl Perkins. But the heartfelt moment was the lighting of a 1920 Embury No. 2 lantern that was passed among the guests on a police patrolled march from the banquet site to the fairgrounds. This lantern will remain lit through the events festives.

PKC will continue to keep those that were unable to travel to these rolling hills of Southwestern Tennessee informed of the events on the message board. You’ll find various candid photos, personal interviews, and immediate results of the successful hunt. Please join us in celebrating what we see as becoming the largest coon hunt in the history of the sport!
