January 2009 will be a busy month for PKC hunters. In January 2008, Ronnie Smith and Hardwood Cornell, ow ned by John Horner and Tallon Poe set a record for the amount of money won in a single month, amassing a grand total of $2,021.51 in Open Event awards, while the top senior spot was claimed by Clayton Mayhem, owned by Rick Vogel and John Strickland, and handled by Jeff Ricklefs, with total earnings of $1,079.55.

During the month of January 2009, $48,794+ will be paid out in added purses and championships at major PKC events.

The events begin on New Year’s Night with the New Year’s Jamboree, being held at St George, South Carolina on January 1-2-3, 2009, with a total added purse of $2,500 to be paid over the three night event!

Hope, Arkansas will be hosting a $250 added purse event on both Friday and Saturday, January 2nd and 3rd, while Junction, Illinois hosts a $250 added purse event on Friday, January 2nd.

The 2009 Jewett Classic gets underway on Tuesday, January 6th at Jewett, Texas with $5,000 to be paid in added purse for the two-night event! An added incentive at this event is that on Wednesday night, all cast winners will be paid $100! WOW!!!!!

On Thursday, January 8th, the major events move to Iola, Texas with the beginning of the annual Lone Star 5000+. There will be another $6,500+ paid out at these events, plus each cast winner in the Pup Derby will receive $100, which will automatically qualify the pup for the Super Stakes Championship! Amazing!!!!!

Additionally, a Pro Showcase event will be held on Friday night in conjunction with the Lone Star 5000+. The winner of this event will receive a 1st place payout of $6,000, with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places paying $3,000, $2,000, and $1000, respectively. This event is already booked full with a full compliment of 16 entries!

Bluetick Days 2009 will be held at Sulligent, Alabama on January 9th and 10th. In addition to the awards to be paid to the top Bluetickers, there will be a $500 Added Purse Open Event on Friday night the 9th, with the added increasing to $1,000 on Saturday night the 10th.

A $250 Added Purse Open Event will be held at Prairie Grove, Arkansas on Saturday, January 10th for those members unable to make it to Iola or Sulligent.

Added purse events continue on Saturday, January 17th, with $600 in added purse money ($100 in the Pup Derby and $500 in the Open Event) to be paid to the winners at West Point, Mississippi, while a $200 added purse event is being held at Crittenden, Kentucky on Saturday, January 17th.

The 2009 Arkansas, Georgia, and Mississippi State Championships will be held on Friday, January 23rd. In addition to the championship escrow to be paid at these events to the 2008 Top 24 competitors, each host club, in conjunction with the state associations, will be hosting a $500 added purse event on Saturday night, January 24th.

Also, on Friday, January 23rd, added purse of $200 at Magnolia, Arkansas, and Locust Grove, Oklahoma. A $250 added purse event is scheduled for the same date at Mullins, South Carolina.

Vinita, Oklahoma is sponsoring a $100 added purse event on Saturday, January 24th, with Johnsonville, South Carolina hosting a $250 added purse event!

The 2009 Sunshine Jamboree gets underway on Monday, January 26th, with three nights of $500 added purse warm-up hunts at Lexington, Alabama on Monday night, Leoma, Tennessee on Tuesday night, and Leoma, Tennessee on Wednesday night.

The 2009 Sunshine Jamboree is being held on January 29th, 30th, and 31st at Goodsprings, Alabama, and features a $1,000 added purse each night!

Also, a $500 added purse event will be held at Danville, Indiana on Friday, January 30th, and a $200 added purse event at Elgin, South Carolina on Saturday, January 31st.

Mixed in with all these added purse events is a Blue Ribbon “Pro Hunt” at Walterboro, South Carolina on January 16 & 17, 2009. There may be some entries for this event still available. Please call Mike at the PKC Office and book your entry today.
