Open Event Entry Fees Increase by $5!
OPEN EVENT ENTRY FEES INCREASE BY $5 EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2022
Recently a proposal was presented to the National Directors to increase entry fees at Open Events by $5. By a vote of 23 for and 13 against, the proposal was approved. Therefore, effective October 1, 2022 entry fees for all Open Events will increase by $5. This $5 increase will be dedicated in its’ entirety as follows:
State Association Escrow........................$3
Youth Fund Escrow...............................$1
World Championship.............................$1
Alabama, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New England/Atlantic States, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Western States, Black & Tan, Breeders, English, Pro, Redbone, and Walker voted for the proposal. Arkansas, Canada, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Kansas, Minnesota/Wisconsin, New York, South Carolina, West Virginia, Bluetick, Cross Breed, and Plott voted against the proposal.
$10 entry fees will increase to $15; $15 entry fees will increase to $20; $25 entry fees will increase to $30; $30 entry fees will increase to $35; $50 entry fees will increase to $55; and $100 entry fees will increase to $105.
Hopefully, this added escrow will generate a much larger purse for each state championship, help fund the Youth Program, and increase the purse for the World Championship.

Re: Open event entry fees increase by $5!
In my opinion, this will hurt more than helps. We are totally forgetting about the small guys. We have 100,200,300,500,1250,2500,6500 entries already. If people want to win more, go to them. The small entry fee hunts are to generate interest in more people trying these hunts. Was 25, than 30, now 35. At least from 25 to 30 the winners that night got an extra $3. Now they get zippo from the extra $5. It will have no effect on my plans, I will still hunt, but it’s sad to see the direction we’re going. Leave the small stuff alone. Go enter the big hunts if you want to win more.

Ill still be one of the dummies going to them but imo this is the first step in doing away with the $30 Hunts.

Great idea here! I think this will boost entries as well as get people excited to hunt for the state hunts again!

Re: Open event entry fees increase by $5!
My opinion if you’re gonna do this to the small hunts then add $100 dollars more to all the bigger pro classic’s and used it for the world and youth fund also. It shouldn’t just be on the small hunts to help with everything

Re: Open Event Entry Fees Increase by $5!
My only question is can we see a audit of these extra funds to make sure they go where they are supposed to I really think Pkc is completely trying to push the small guy out and cater to the money man but what ever

Re: Open Event Entry Fees Increase by $5!
I absolutely love this idea on one condition, the funds go where their supposed to. I don’t think it will cause an immediate increase in the 30$ hunts but I do believe they will slowly increase. Once people sees that state hunts are hunting for 10-15k for being in top 16. I think more people will push to try and get in top 16. That’s my opinion.

Re: Open Event Entry Fees Increase by $5!
I would like to see some of this extra costs going to the clubs to help keep the doors open. This is going to lower the number of participants coming to the weeknight hunts and the clubs are going to suffer the most. Without us small clubs pkc would not have all their profit gains and extra money in their pockets.

This is to help the guys that can’t afford the big hunts, have an opportunity to hunt for a good purse. That’s all this is and it’s a good idea.

I don’t think the $30 hunts will fully phase out but be more of a hunt you’ll only see during the week.

Re: Open Event Entry Fees Increase by $5!
I like the idea of the extra $5 long as it goes where it’s supposed to. Just please help the local club and younger/new guys to have a chance to compete in these state races. Make top 16 races go with cast wins versus money won. Now that $100 open hunts are a option you almost have to forget the $30 hunts or you won’t compete in the end. A cast win should be the same whether you pay $15 or $105 entry. Bunch of guys I personally know would attend many more hunts if they didn’t have to fork out a bunch of money to attend. Our club numbers would hugely increase if we had $15 hunts and they meant something. Still have your big money pro classics for guys that don’t care about the races. Jmo.

Re: Open Event Entry Fees Increase by $5!
Be thankful your healthy enough to go and participate in what you love to do and if five dollars is going to affect you that much you probably don’t need to be hunting in a coon hunt anyway. Job well done PKC and God bless
