This will be an awesome Coonhunt. There is nothing to compare to Northeast Iowa Coonhunting in June. The kittens will be down and climbing and the nights will be cool. The fairgrounds and hospitality at Nashua are second to none. The Warm Up hunts this year make it worth a week-long trip.

If you can get this hunt on your schedule for 2012, you will be back next year and the year after that. Guarantee it!

I always had a great time in Nashua in June. Congratulations on the new hunt title and to Gomer, Bob, Rod and all the boys up there. If you go, you will have a great time too. There's no better fairground to camp and enjoy the hunt. The gals in the kitchen will keep you well fed!

To answer a couple more questions:

Seven nights of PKC Competition in some of the best Coonhunting the United States has to offer!

•The four high scoring double cast winners with plus points from Friday and Saturday nights (early rounds only) will make up the Cedar River Classic Four Wheeler Final Four. If there is not four double cast winners with plus points, it will revert to single high score to get four finalists. The Four Wheeler Final Four will recast late Saturday night (for one hour) to determine the 2012 PKC Cedar River Classic Champion (dog and handler) will be credited $6,500 in lifetime earnings.

•Saturday’s Open Event Final will be automatically split to avoid confusion if dogs qualify for both the Open Event and Four Wheeler finals.

—AUTOMATIC SPLIT OF ALL ADDED PURSE FOR ALL SEVEN NIGHTS—

The host club at Nashua, Iowa; Gomer, Rod, Bob & Phil wanted everyone to know they appreciate your interest and input. This is not a “one and done” kinda’ event, they plan to hold this Four Wheeler Hunt every year.

The Nashua CHA would like everyone to come out, have fun, tree some Iowa coons and help make plans for 2013. They can guarantee a great time! If you have suggestions on how to improve the Cedar River Classic in future years, they will be glad to hear your ideas.

Merlin Hershberger wrote:Just curious: Why only a 1 hour final when your hunting for a 6500 dollar first prize?

Merlin, the Four Wheeler is being presented as a prize provided 100% by the host club and event organizers. They have decided the final round will be a one-hour cast this year.

Previously, we've always held a 1 hour Final 4 hunt for the Heartland Classic 4 wheeler hunt. I realize PKC uses some different formats, but in my experience having been present on every Heartland Final 4 for 6 years, the cream always rises to the top. Whether 1 hour or 2 hours, its all about the handler and dog that gets the breaks and makes the least mistakes like any other hunt.

This should be an outstanding event. The Nashua boys know how to put on a hunt and the hunting that time of year in that country is outstanding.

Correct, the Four Wheeler is Added Money that will go toward the lifetime earnings of the handler and dog. The Friday and Saturday night PKC Open Events will count toward state/breed/national earnings just like any other PKC Open Event.

2012 PKC CEDAR RIVER CLASSIC CHAMPION WILL RECEIVE A NEW 2012 POLARIS SPORTSMAN 500 H.O.
The four high scoring double cast winners with plus points from Friday and Saturday nights will make up the Final Four. If there is not four double cast winners with plus points, it will revert to single high score to get four finalists. The Final Four
will recast late Saturday night to determine the 2012 PKC Cedar River Classic Champion (dog and handler) will be credited
$6,500 in lifetime earnings.

Colt, the Friday and Saturday night PKC Open Events will count toward state/breed/national earnings just like any other PKC Open Event.

The winner of the Four Wheeler Final Four, “THE CEDAR RIVER CLASSIC CHAMPION” will receive the Polaris 4-Wheeler and be credited $6,500 toward the lifetime earnings of the handler and dog. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th place dogs in the Four Wheeler Final Four will receive no earnings from the cast.
