As you know, the vast majority of PKC Members are solid, honest and fair competitors. Unfortunately, there are still some “Bad Apples” that will take advantage of every situation possible, so long as they think they can get by with it. It is sad to say, but there are some unscrupulous club members out there that have been inflating their entry numbers and stealing from you. They fill their scorecards full of hunters and dogs that are nowhere near the club grounds and pretend to have a hunt. Yes, this systematic dishonesty and outright stealing from fellow PKC Members can be stopped, but it will take the honest members stepping forward to do so.
How would you feel if you found out that after running up and down the roads several nights a week spending lots of time, energy and hard earned money to compete for a Truck Ticket or a spot in the State, Breed and National Races, that someone beat you out and never even turned a dog loose?
These cheaters diminish your chances of winning what you have rightfully earned, just so they can sell a counterfeit dog or benefit from an undeserved and tarnished moment in the spotlight.
As a PKC Member, you share in the responsibility of assuring that hunts in your area are conducted properly within the PKC Rules and Policies. Here are some clues you can watch out for:
• Always check the prohound.com online hunt results of the local clubs in your area http://www.prohound.com/3549-listresults/?View=C
• Pay close attention to the number of entries and who is winning.
• When the same dogs are always listed as winners at a specific club or clubs.
• When you draw out with these consistent “winners” and wonder how they win.
• A club that has between 4-16 dogs at every hunt that you do not attend, but have a hard time hunting one cast when you do attend.
• When you go to a local hunt and they treat you as an outsider and seem to prefer if you were not there.
• When someone brazenly asks you if you mind if ghost dogs are added to your cast.
• When someone asks you if they can "buy" your cast win.
Even if many of these clues are apparent, it does not mean there is cheating going on, but remember the old adage, “Where there is smoke, there is fire”.
Attend as many local PKC Open Events as possible, even if you do not have anything ready to hunt. If you are going pleasure hunting, meet your buddies at the hunt. Your local hunts provide a great opportunity to socialize and to keep an eye on things. Watch the clock, entries may not be taken more than thirty (30) minutes after the advertised deadline. Whenever possible, judges should be selected from those entrants who are not members of the sponsoring club and the participants who live in the local area should serve as hunting guides. Make absolutely sure the selected judges are called up to randomly and blindly draw their guide and other cast members in front of all members present. If you observe Hunt Directors not following the PKC Cast Drawing Procedures outlined on pages 42-43 of your Blue Book, step up and let him or her know that these errors must be corrected before casts are sent to the woods.
Please DO NOT leave the clubhouse until the Hunt Director announces how many dogs were entered and what the payout is. It is very important that you notify the PKC Staff of any discrepancies or inaccuracies right away, so that they may be corrected. Please ask the Hunt Director to send the hunt report to PKC the next morning following the hunt if at all possible. Following these suggestions will improve the honesty and integrity of your area hunts and will allow members to feel that they are competing on a level playing field.

Well not right for pkc to tell a person they finished in the top 16 of their state race order him a jacket and all then 2 months later find out the standings has changed a week before the state hunt. Something shady happened some where here

We are sorry to hear about your situation. About the first of November, the 2017 state standings (at that time) were used to generate a top 16 jacket order. Unfortunately, all of the 2017 Hunt Reports were not in and entered by that time. The 2017 standing were not able to be finalized until about mid November, and they had changed somewhat by then. This is not uncommon or out of the ordinary.
Prepare yourself and your hound. Hunt the dog, read the Blue Book, and your Good Book!
