That's why a cast needs to stay together unless there is a non hunting judge.

Shine time should never be stopped then restarted!

If shine time is stopped due to interference then that tree will most likely be deleted.

No Jeff that isn't how it was explained to us , we all heard it because we put it on speaker phone so that all of the people that were still there could hear it. It was conveyed to all of us that if all members are shining a tree and say 2 of the other dogs 5 minutes are up those handlers can go to their dogs and tie them, At that point the shine time stops until all handlers or the majority of the cast can start shining again then the shine time resumes. Like I stated in an earlier post that I have never heard this rule .

I agree!
I am not a big fan of that being a rule to fallow, to stop shinning time to let others go tie there dogs and then come back?

Ronnie, we currently have two competing rules; one requires that at least three cast members be present at each tree before it can be scored, and the other allows a handler to go tie their dog when the “five” is up or when all dogs have been declared treed or handled.

If you and two other cast members are at a tree scoring it and your dog’s separate tree is dead, the ideal situation and the most sportsmanlike thing to do is finish scoring that tree before you go tie your dog. The longest you will ever have to wait is eight minutes.

If you have a handler that disregards this common courtesy and insists that they go handle their dog, leaving only have two cast members remaining at a tree, the only thing you can do under our current rules is to pause the shine time until they return. In my lifetime I have only experienced this situation once or twice. Most of our members have enough confidence in what they are hunting that they have no problem finishing the scoring of a tree before they go to their dog.

First night of the world hunt this year. My gyp treed behind us as we are going to another dog. When arrived at that dogs tree my 5 was up. I helped shine that tree and waited for everyone to go with me. What would have been the point to go to mine? I cant shine it until they get there anyway. If I'm worried about one moving then I'm not taking it to a hunt. Even UKC doesn't allow you to leave a tree being shined to go to your dog if it doesn't leave enough people to score.

In UKC you can't leave once shine time has started. If you do your scratched.

If you do stop the shine time and let the other two go leash their dogs after the five then why not go with them to handle their tree or trees to make sure that their dogs do not move or the two catches them and also see which tree they are treed up?
