Confusion When Registering A PKC Litter?

It has been reported a few of the newer members and those not registering litters often, have had some confusion with the current PKC Litter Registration Application: http://www.prohound.com/images/PDF/Forms/RegistrationForms/litterapp2012.pdf

The confusion comes because there is a line for the $200 Single Litter Super Stake Fee making some folks think that this fee is required for all litters.

Please note:
If the sire of your litter is already a PKC Super Stakes Sire, you do not owe $200, your total litter registration cost is only $7 + $6 per pup.

Sire is not paid up.
Dam is registered as crossbreed. Guy gave me UKC Papers but I'm not 100% sure they are right so I'm gonna leave her as crossbred to be on the safe side.
I only want to register this litter and will be keeping all the pups so I want to go ahead and register all the pups at one time.
Dam nor sire have dna on file.

Please tell me what I need to do.

You will need send in a swab to DNA Profile both the Sire & Dam @ $40 each.

If you have already made the cross along with a copy the PKC Litter Registration Application: http://www.prohound.com/images/PDF/Forms/RegistrationForms/litterapp2012.pdf showing that the breeding occurred.

After the litter is born, fill out your copy of the Litter Application; send in the usual litter fees, plus $200 to Super Stake the litter.

Keep in mind the $200 fee is to “Super Stake” a litter of pups that is not out of a Super Stake Sire. This is completely separate from the $25 per pup certification option.

You as a breeder are not required to certify any pups in your litter. You may choose to certify them or you can leave it up to the pup buyers to certify them.

Note: If a breeder chooses to take the $25 per pup certification option they MUST certify all the pups in the litter.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if sire isn't ss I have to pay the 200 for the litter+ the 6 + 7 for each pup

Michael, assuming both the sire and dam are PKC registered and DNA profiled you are good there, if not, add a $25 single registration fee and a $40 DNA fee for each, if needed.

Litter registration ($6 X 10 pups + $7): $67
SS Litter Fee: $200

Jerry, I have a litter of pups I'm going to certify myself so I know it will be done. My question is, how long do I or the buyers have until they have to finalize there DNA(make them eligible for SS). I have heard by 9 months of age, I have heard you have until 2 yrs.

You have until six months of age to get the pups DNA swabbed and stored.

The pup must be DNA profiled prior to the first Super Stakes that the pup will hunt in.

Ok Jerry, In between time you answered this and I got back on and looked at it I called the PKC office. Now the lady told me if I pay the $25.00 certification fee on each pup I have until the pups are 9 months old before I have to do anything else. So is it 6 months or 9 months? I'm sure you know what your talking about though. First time I have ever heard anything about 9 months.

I sent it off yesterday. I guess it will all be explained either way when I get the paper work back.

Ralph, that is correct. If the breeder pays all the pups up at the $25 fee, they do not have to be sampled until 9 months old.

If they are paid up individually, it's six months old.

Jason, I have a few questions for you before I can answer yours.
What is the date of birth of these pups?
Are the sire and dam PKC registered?
Are the sire and dam DNA profiled?
Is the sire a PKC Super Stakes sire?

there both pkc reg nothing else just thinking about breeding some just not sure how much it is going to cost me to get the pups ss they are both dna profiled
